Hempur - a revolution in paper hygiene!
Toilet paper and paper hygiene products. A common thing we could not imagine our lives without. But have you ever thought about how much of a burden using conventional paper products is on our planet? Two Swedish visionaries have. And so Hempur was founded.
Production of toilet paper and paper hygiene
What are the environmental impacts of toilet paper production? Let's take a closer look:
Did you know that globally we flush approximately 27,000 trees down the toilet every day? That's exactly how much paper products are consumed.
High water consumption - water is used in all areas of the paper industry, from growing trees to pulp production to bleaching.
The paper industry is the fourth most energy-intensive industry in the European Union. The most common energy sources used in the paper industry are non-renewable sources - fossil fuels.
Bamboo luxury
Hempur's paper hygiene products are made from bamboo. Bamboo is known for its renewability and low environmental impact. It is the fastest growing grass in the world and is grown without the use of any pesticides or fertilizers. When you harvest it, it grows back again, and it doesn't need as much water to grow as trees.
Hempur's vegan certified products are not tested on animals, are hypoallergenic with no chemical ingredients, are not bleached and are suitable for very sensitive skin. If you have a home WWTP, you will also be pleased to know that they are easily degradable and do not burden the WWTP.
Hempur uses only energy from naturally renewable sources and technology to reduce water consumption and recycle water in the production of paper products. This allows for carbon neutral production and thus reduces the environmental impact of production.
You can now also find Hempur toilet paper and kitchen towels in our online shop.
