Organic cotton for our skin

From a seed in a poor West African country, a cotton plant grew. This cotton plant grew without the use of pesticides and continues to give us the softest, most fragrant cotton. The people who grew it have been paid a fair wage and, as a result, their children can go to school. Only such organic and fair trade cotton is used to make Bocoton's quality cotton pads and other cosmetic products.

Cotton vs. organic cotton

Approximately 25% of the world's total pesticide and chemical consumption is attributable to cotton cultivation. Some sources estimate that in the USA it takes up to 150 g of chemicals to grow enough cotton to make one T-shirt. Which is a crazy number. If we used only organic cotton products, we would save up to 2 billion tons of pesticides and chemicals per year (this includes the chlorine used to bleach cotton).

The organic cotton from which Bocoton products are made is cotton grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This method of cultivation is more environmentally friendly as it minimises soil and water pollution, protects biodiversity and the health of the farmers who work on the cotton plantations. Organic cotton is also processed using environmentally friendly methods that involve less aggressive chemical processes.

Why use organic cotton products?

In our shop you will find two types of make-up remover tampons in a larger oval design. They are made of organic cotton, which is softer to the touch thanks to growing without the use of synthetic chemicals, the cotton fibres are not disturbed by chemical processes, so they have a higher absorbency and do not irritate the skin. You will remember some common makeup remover pads that are hard and rough to the touch. Cleansing your skin is more like treating wood with sandpaper than a pleasant beauty ritual.
