HERBATINT - tips for perfect grey coverage
If you are choosing Herbatint hair dyes and have more grey hair that you want to cover, this article is for you. It's important to know that when choosing one of the colours from the C, D, R, DR, M or FF shade range, you should also choose the same shade from the natural range and mix the colours in the right proportions. More on this below :-)
How to mix the shades of the N series in the case of grey hair
The colours of the shade range N, i.e. natural shades from 1N to 8N cover 100% grey hair from the first application. Shades 9N and 10N have a very low concentration of colour pigments, so they must be mixed with a small amount of shade 8N to achieve the best possible coverage of grey hair.
How to mix the shades of the C, D, R, DR, M series in case of grey hair
If you want to use one of the shades in the C (ashy shades), D (golden shades), R (rusty shades), DR (golden-rusty shades) or M (mahogany shades) range and you have more grey hair, you should mix the colour you have chosen (for example 4R) with an equivalent natural shade (i.e. In this case, the more grey hair you have, the more of the natural shade you should use. The individual amounts can be found in the table below.
As an example, if you have more than 60% grey hair and you have chosen shade 4R, mix 40 ml of shade 4N and 20 ml of shade 4R for perfect coverage. Top up this amount with 60 ml of developing emulsion. The ratio of colour to developing emulsion will be 1:1, which must always be maintained.
How to mix the shades of the FF series (fashionable colour shades) in the case of grey hair
If you have a higher percentage of grey hair and want to use shades of the FF series, the manufacturer recommends combining these shades with the N series (natural shades). The colour might otherwise be lighter/more pronounced than you would expect. If you choose shade FF3, combine it with shade 5N. If you choose any other shade in this range, combine it with shade 7N. Again, refer to the table above for the quantity of the natural shade and the FF shade.
In the case of very thick hair, you should apply the colour to thin strands of hair to ensure that the colour is evenly distributed throughout the hair. The more hair you have, the more colour you need. However, you must always maintain a 1:1 ratio of colour to emulsion.
