Origin and properties of the ingredients
Olive soap The olive groves of the Mediterranean region of Italy, Spain and Greece are the source of the fruit from which organic olive oil is extracted by mechanical processes such as pressing and centrifugation. Saponified oil is the main ingredient in Olive Wool and Silk Detergent. Olive oil is the best oil raw material for a mild soap with a subsequent lubricating effect. Its balanced composition of fatty acids, its healing, harmonising effect on the heart and blood circulation and the remarkable evolution of the olive tree over a seven-year rhythm show the special relationship of this oil to man. CRAPE OIL SOAP: Rapeseed oil soaped with potassium lye serves to enhance the cleansing ability. Along with flax and sunflowers, rapeseed is one of the few oilseed crops that are grown in our mild central European climate to produce oil, also in organic quality. ETHANOL: is obtained by fermenting starchy plants such as corn and potatoes. Ethanol helps to keep the soap in a liquid state and also improves the detergent's ability to dissolve grease. SUGAR SOAP: sugar, starch and coconut fat are the raw materials used to obtain the sugar tenside. The proportion of sugar tenside is adjusted to the soap content of the detergent in such a way that it serves to keep the calcium soap formed in hard water from dispersing finely and preventing it from settling on the laundry.
Biodegradation
Vegetable oil soap has the excellent property that immediately after use it combines with the calcium, always contained in waste water, to form calcium soap. This neutralises the active surface effect attacking living organisms (primary degradation) within a few hours. The calcium soap is then 100% degraded by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water (secondary degradation). Ethanol can be mixed with water without restriction and is therefore reintegrated into the natural cycle within a few hours. In the process of making sugar wetting agents, the plant raw materials of starch, sugar and fat are extracted, but the parts remain fully preserved in their natural structure. It is therefore easy for micro-organisms to quickly and completely break down these wetting agents.
